A candidate that believes Nevada government should be for the people, by the people
Nichole Beer grew up in Southwest Michigan. She was raised by a single mother, who worked hard to provide for four children, while Nichole’s father was incarcerated for the first 11 years of her life. As a child, her mother took her to evening classes for years as she worked to put herself through college. At 46 her mother finished her degree.
Nichole attributed her work ethic, street smarts, and common sense to both of her parents.
Nichole is a third-generation union activist. Her grandfather started an IWW chapter at United Steel and Wire, in the 1930’s. Her brothers, mother, and uncles were all involved in unions, either as officers or stewards.
She is a tough, no nonsense candidate that has an unwavering commitment to children, education, and equality issues. She is a survivor of childhood and adult sexual abuse. Her truth about her trauma is, “Living through that, has made me afraid of nothing and nobody”.
Teaching has been her professional calling. Working as public-school elementary educator and part time professor allow her to pursue her passion for social justice education. She works in neighborhoods and schools that mirror her upbringing. She wants to teach children who still suffer some of the same injustices she suffered as a child, due to poverty and lack of opportunities.
Nichole is married to Nick Beer, a former city councilman from C.O. Her daughter was born in Las Vegas and is a licensed teacher and school psychologist with the Clark County School District.
Never one to shy away from a fight, Nichole is someone you want in the Nevada Senate that will fight for all of us. This grassroots, progressive candidate will always be, of the people and for the people.
Power to the people, you are not alone.
